You've just made our day. Thank you for the kind words.

We'd like to expand our coverage of biopharma and pharma outside of the U.S. If you or any colleagues ever feel the urge to write (technical articles or opinion pieces), please let me know.

Sincerely,

Dear Dr. Singh,

I am always happy to chat with a fellow scientist. I looked at the webpage indicated and there was limited information as to the exact work being performed. If you could enlighten me as to the nature of his work, I would love to discuss it.

As far as the results of this work, it matters not to domestic pharmaceutical companies, if the product is researched, produced, and imported from abroad. The patients will receive benefit, as will any stockholders in the company, by my thrust in my articles is towards US and other national companies to improve their manufacturing sites. (Multinationals can always seek cheaper hands for the labor.) As far as the R&D, as a mortal, prone to diseases, I always applaud any advance in science.

However, as an observer of human nature, I mourn for the thousands of scientists who will be replaced by outsourced work to lower paying areas. I count myself among them, but am fortunate to have a specialty that is still in demand (Near-Infrared Spectroscopy.)

I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,

Emil

What do you think about the research that David Sinclair (of Harvard Med and Sirtris Pharma) is doing on sirtuins?(http://www.sirtrispharma.com) Will his work be as world-changing as some people speculate? The recent report on ABC's Nightline was intriguing.
